Not everyone likes living in the country. We do. Surrounded by old oaks, high on a sandy bluff overlooking the Illinois River is the place we call home.

Woodford County Illinois is a historical part of the state. The people are friendly with good schools and a lower cost of living than where we moved from in the upper part of the state. Most the people here are conservatives which suits us just fine. From fests to fairs, it's a great place to live.

We'll be exploring ways to make electricity, the only utility that we use besides a phone line. Growing food here is a challenge with the sandy/clay soil and lots of wildlife that prefers our food to theirs. Regular raids on the vegetable garden over the last couple years has shown us that drastic measures must be taken if we are to grow any quantity of fresh produce.
